It was twelve o’clock, and the office was quiet. Everyone was waiting for the lunch break. Maria looked at the clock and smiled. She had been working on reports all morning, and her eyes were tired from the computer screen.

When the manager finally said, “Okay, time for lunch,” people quickly stood up. Some colleagues went outside to buy food, while others opened their lunch boxes. Maria had brought a sandwich, an apple, and a bottle of water. She sat at the small table in the break room.

Her friend Daniel joined her with a big hamburger and French fries. “You always eat healthy,” he said, laughing. Maria smiled and replied, “I try. But maybe I will steal one of your fries.” They both laughed.

Soon, more coworkers came in. The room was full of conversations about movies, weekend plans, and even football. For a moment, nobody talked about emails, clients, or deadlines. The atmosphere was light, and everyone seemed more relaxed.

After eating, Maria made some coffee. She enjoyed the short time to rest and talk with friends. Lunch break was only thirty minutes, but it felt like an important pause in the middle of a busy day.

When the break ended, the employees returned to their desks with new energy. Maria thought, Lunch is not only about food. It is about connection and balance at work.
